The Hunan Department of Emergency Management and the Hunan Energy Administration respectively sent letters of thanks to Wuling Power for its great contributions in 2020.
In last February when the COVID-19 epidemic was extremely severe, Wuling’s power plants and stations generated more than two TWh electricity, equaling 27.13% of the total monthly electricity consumption in Hunan. Its 12 conventional hydropower plants handled 2,630 startups and shutdowns for peak load responding, with their peak power output of 4,481.6 MW, one third of the provincial total at that time. These have provided strong guarantees for Hunan’s fighting against the epidemic and resuming social and economic development.
During the flood prevention and control period, Wuling implemented dispatches for 468 times in response to the commands of the Hunan Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters. Eight cascade reservoirs along the Yuanshui River collaborated to intercept and store flood water of 5.87 billion cubic meters. These effectively eased the flood prevention pressures on Dongting Lake area and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
During the peak-load period this winter, Wuling played its role as a major electricity supplier in Hunan. It rolled out unified dispatch of cascade hydropower plants and coordinated hydro and thermal power supplies, which effectively alleviated the power shortage in Hunan.
The Hunan Department of Emergency Management and the Hunan Energy Administration spoke highly of Wuling’s efforts in fighting against the epidemic, boosting resumption of production, assisting in flood prevention and control, guaranteeing electricity supply in peak-load period, and constructing power projects. They extended gratitude to Wuling for its contributions to Hunan’s economic and social development, and the fulfillment of its social responsibility.
